I had a neighbor, a camera repair man who sorted out the wiring problem with an electrical circuit tracer, so I wound up having to replace only a few wires. I put in a hidden cut off switch to the coil in the glove compartment at the same time, in case the auto maestro thief struck again.

Got the truck started and not sure if I needed a jump or not, but if I did there would be any number of people only to glad to help if you had jumper cables. I headed for Interstate 80. On the way I ran into a side road that looked familiar. Sonoma, Guy and I, when Guy was little had stayed at a campsite on a river somewhere near Grass Valley. It was a neat site and we by chance, got one of the best spots on the wash-floor next to the river, fairly removed from the rest of the campers, who were all lined up the other side of the road on a hillside.

People there were gold mining in the river all day with shovels, and panning for a thimble full of gold, for a week's work. There was a big swimming hole with broad beach and it was great for Guy. Walking up a tributary there was moss strewn and slick rock slides, where the river sailed through tumultuously, and you could slide down the smooth rock and moss spillways. The big event was a family of lower class types, who were the only other campers on the flat but at a distance, and who were somewhat noisy. The patriarch was a drunk and had a small camp trailer to himself, which hardly being able to walk, he would retire early. They had a bond fire going, about six people in all, and somebody threw a can of beans into the fire, and it exploded in someone's face.
