The idol also acts as an excuse and a means in which the individual does not have to accept true responsibility for one's own actions or even lead one's own life. Ultimately responsibility lies with entities to which the idol represents, and the responsibility of the individual is to only obey the given precepts or follow orders.
Idolatry and Religion are defined as synonymous. Religion is distinguished from Spirituality primarily by the difference of the ability of the individual, to verify through the senses, the existence of spirit and and a spiritual realm which exists co-existent with the planetary plane.
Religion is defined as primarily based upon the vehicle of faith. The actual existence of God lies in another dimension generally described as heaven. Thus God is a concept and must be represented by symbols. In Religion an intermediary is usually considered necessary, as the auspices of the church, officials thereof, and idols. However it is said that the individual may have direct contact with God or Spirit through the means of prayer or meditation, in which evidence of existence is by the occurrence of circumstance. Proof of the existence of God is said to be evident when specific good things happen, especially when prayed for, such as the tornado just-misses the church. However if the tornado hits the church it said to be evidence of the work of the devil and not evidence of the non-existence of God. Any sensory evidence as
Spiritual Manifestations and Semiotic Language, as practiced by those outside the authority of the church, is usually considered
as black magic or Evil manifestations.
