INTERPRETIVE CONTEXT

Interpretive Context means the Context in which any given instance of reality or thinking is Interpreted, wherein Interpretation means the selection of specific Associations from a myriad of impressions, images and thoughts. Interpretation means the selection of specific Association from the memory.

What or who does the selecting ? First there is automatic selection. Selection is automatic so as to preserve the body from sudden dangers as instantaneous reaction. On seeing a vile creature, she jumped out of the way as automatic reaction without thinking. This may be called fear response. The response is automatic but the stimulus is not, and comes from past actual life experience with vile creature or vicariously such as reading of, stories told or films seen of vile creatures.

Volitional interpretation begins with the development of what is called the Ego, or first personality slowly developed from infancy. The mechanism is sensual experience as sight, sound, touch, smell and taste remembered, and on recall is Association. Positive and negative experience as sensory pleasure/pain or simply a smooth and rough time of it, becomes positive/negative Association of the experience of the body. The Ego is I-act, which would begin with involuntary reaction to uncomfort, and learning to duplicate the same acts by thought provocation. The arm recoiled of an itch, and thought as Association put it back as where it was. The I-act is called the Ego and represents all that Association as contained within the Context of what primarily concerns the body, as control of what will affect the body from the external environment or internally.

The Ego I-act, protects the body from negative and painful situation and circumstance and accommodates urges as hunger, thirst, sex, temperature control, comfort, enjoyment, wild ideas and the laughable.
