art Memory Dictate

Normally that which thinks, Thinking-I, as the will, deliberator and decision-maker is considered to control what is remembered, what is retrieved from the memory, when, where and why. If one fails in the ability to recall what is desired or necessary in any given instance, it is considered to be a flaw of memory. The premise here is that the memory can have a personality of its own, controlling what the individual thinks, says and does, by what can be remembered in any given particular instance. The memory can be thought of as an individual in and of itself, that decides much of what one thinks, says and does. One can only think and act in accordance with what one can remember. Thus if the memory were considered as a personality in and of itself, by its control of the information that the Thinking-I has access too, it would be capable of controlling on its own, every aspect of the individual. This is called the Memory Dictate.

The primary purpose of the Memory Dictate would be to allow the Unconscious and possibly other facets, such as intuition, the muse, spirit guides, and particularly the Metaphysical-I, to regulate the consciousness of the individual, to some greater or lesser degree. The theory here is that the Metaphysical-I possesses a larger context of consciousness, understanding and possibly objectives, which transcend the single this-world physical life span, than does the limitations of the Thinking-I and singular sensory awareness.

Because like being certain there are aliens from outer space, a certain knowledge of the Metaphysical-I would represent dimensions in time and space, that by comparison would make the present physical existence seem trivial. If the larger context represented a context of past and future lives, the problem would become how does one believe in present life or be free from the past? Thus it would be assumed that the Metaphysical-I would be invisible, but still act as a spirit-guide, which would be a perfect compromise between eternal and singular life. The theory and method suggested here is through a process of memory connectivity, by a process of blocking specific memories in specific instances, so that it would impede movement in the wrong direction, and and by promoting connectivity in other instances, the Metaphysical-I could promote movement in the right direction.

Different people have varying memory capabilities, some with lightening fast photographic capacity, and some with very slow and poor memories. Quality of memory could be due to various factors. What one remembers and what one does not may be a matter of what one considers as important. What one considers is of importance determines not only the memory of it, but the actual notice of it at all. Some memories are very vivid. These might be of things that were of special importance to the individual like one's wedding day or a funeral. One does not generally remember what one hardly notices. Some people have better memories for things like trivia and others for only things like graduation day.
