I glazed and fired them. He was not satisfied with any of them and I told him I was giving up the project in his office back of the Chat and Chew. Not sure if I got paid or maybe the deal was free food and coffee. Probably the latter because I took him up on it by bringing in some of my friends and getting disapproving looks. Mission Street at this time was all torn up with the digging of the Bart tunnel. Most of the store fronts were empty since there was no traffic or parking on Mission, it all being diverted to South Van Ness one block east and Valencia two blocks west. I suppose most of these businesses went broke. So it was a fairly solitary walk.

The problem was bracing the second from the front up-rights. I put in a cross brace between these two up-rights for a foot rest, to hold the legs high enough to rest one's arms on when working the clay.
