We are all standing shoulder to shoulder and I was closest to the driver. There must have been lurch in the movement of the bus, because I somehow managed to spill most of his change all over the floor and down the steps at everyone's feet. The driver was not happy but he could live with it.

But it was just then, that one of our little squad, Thor (that was his real given name) and he was the biggest of us, compulsively decided to be sick, and he puked all over the change that was on the floor, and on a few people's shoes as well. It was right then that the driver just pulled the bus over to the curb.

He ordered everybody off the bus and said he wasn't driving anymore today. "Some days it don't pay to get out of bed." He went to a phone booth and called for another bus to replace his. So the whole crowd had to wait for other buses to come along. Nobody was too happy about it. Standing there in the strange city, I wasn't sure if people were more angry at us or thought the whole thing was just too funny.
