It was a battle with the elements. My personal feeling was that the spirits were trying to drive us out, as they did that first time we tried to back pack in. Wasn't sure what the animosity was, or if it was all just in my head. Up in these mountains, there is a different type of energy conducive to thinking high thoughts if one is so inclined. There can feel to be an invisible community there which is only evident by a facility of sentience. The place is ancient. Rock formations with moss decor that have been there for thousands of years. Any individual in any time period would see and experience the same shapes and contours and if one could make out universal symbolic impressions, they would be the same for anyone at any-time, like a museum of symbolic art work. The point being not human made, but by nature or perhaps spiritual forces, that might be indigenous to the place.

What was interesting in this first back-pack trip, was the basic elements of if. I had travelled all over Europe on a scooter and reduced my utilitarian necessities to the absolute minimum. At that time I felt that this was necessary so that one could determine the precise degree of freedom and independence one could have. If one is into time as the pursuit of one's life, and if one has to work for money, then to know exactly what one needed was to know exactly how much time would be necessary in acquiring it. If one believes they need something they do not, and spends the time acquiring and maintaining it, then it is time wasted.
