Independence allows for the complete freedom of the
mind and the emotions. If one is reliant on others, one
may be expected to conform to agendas, of which the
individual does not agree and does not feel
comfortable with. However independence can be
taken too far and leave one a lonely person. Thus a
certain ability of balance, as willing dependence may
also be helpful. A certain dependency on others,
allows others to have and feel importance. It causes
one to have to interrelate, to accept others standards,
to become understanding of others ways, and
promotes a respect for other's independence. It
causes one to keep one's ego in check.
The True Conservative, while possessing principles,
integrity, and loyalty to the pre-existent state, is not
an uncompromising strict dogmatist, but rather tends
to be more of a relativist towards oneself and others.
The TC is tolerant of others in terms of conditions,
others are given as pre-existent states. Some of these
states are gender, sexual orientation, race, talent,
background, physical and intellectual characteristics,
temperament and the conditioning of environment
and values. Thus people are legitimately different.
The understanding of the reasons, why others are the
way they are, and accepting it is a matter of
Compassion. To the extent one does not want to
accept the differences of others, where differences
derive from the pursuit of progressive values, the
individual may accept that these people are
dangerous to one's well being, and or mental and
emotional states and refuse to relate and interact, not
as a matter of prejudice but as a simple state of
preservation.
