This authority can be anything from God to one's
boss, the police or political power, to one's parents,
teachers, the law. The most fundamental means of the
promotion of authoritarianism is by the actual use or
threat of force, punishment by physical restraint, fine,
forfeiture, loss of property, jail, death or threats
against persons valuable to the individual.
Those individuals and groups who deem themselves
as best conforming to models of expectation whether
Conservative or Progressive, or feel it necessary to
promote such models for the good of a particular
group or segment of society, or for the greater whole,
may use these paragons as justification for their
decisions and actions, and act by authoritarian means
for their promotion. Authoritarianism is when
objectives act as authority for the individual or
groups actions. These objectives of course are
considered of greater consequence than those who
may be impacted negatively by their imposition.
Only entities capable of change and conformance
potentially qualify for legitimacy. The outside
authority as a model for conformance, is the control,
dictate, example, evaluative measure and standard to
which the original condition is to conform. When an
original condition must conform to an outside
authority as a progressed state for its validity of
existence, which is not its natural to its development,
then the outside authority is said to be authoritarian.
