With each hit on the gas the wheel would come up off the track, let off and it would bounce down, hit --- up, let off --- bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, three or four times through each curve. Then coming out of the curve, the Mouse would hit the throttle and the tire would come up and stay up all the way down the straight, getting higher and higher as the speed increased --- higher and higher until the curve and then down --- bounce down, down !

Zam Zam Zam-Zam Zam ! Shabam ! Watch Miles come out of that corner Zam the little wheel kicks up - Zam Zam down up-down - Zaaaaam up up up-up up - as he streaked down the straight away up and up and then Blam down - braking for the corner at eighty - wheel drift right - Zam wheel up down - slide control high and wide the rear wheels throwing mud over the wall - in the white banked lights high on tall poles illuminating the green field central and the pedestrian grandstands on either side.

Because of the superior traction and the best engines of the time, Mouse Melius never lost a race. The Mouse won every heat or finished such that he could compete in the final. As usually the fastest qualifier, the Mouse always started dead or near last in the finals. The semi and finals may have been 30 laps, but if that is exact is not clear in my memory. The Mouse had to wend his way through the field of about 20 cars to win the race.
