The distinction is made between Intrinsic and Extrinsic because this dichotomy declares the difference between Spiritual and Conceptual Authority. The authority for human activity and behavior, when the natural world is not considered as a spiritual state, is the Negative Dimension as what is termed Conceptual Authority. If Spirit is not an entity which can be substantiated by the Human Sensory Apparatus, the possibility of Spiritual Substantiation is only realizable elsewhere in space and time, as a reality in the future, and wherein any verification in terms of common agreement of two or more people is not possible. The existence of spirit is learned from the instruction of others, and is manifest as states of memory.

Spirituality as Conceptual Authority is defined as Religious Materialism, wherein the commonly held definition of spirituality is the absence of physical properties, and is generally described by qualities & conditions which are opposite to the natural world. Spiritual qualities & conditions are defined as absent physical conditions and constraints of the Given Existence and human needs. Heaven is described as the perfect sensory environment with no pain, need or concerns of any kind, and represents the absence and opposite of the conditions of the natural world.

A conceptual state of spirituality means that the authority for human activity and behavior is the abstraction of the Negative Dimension, in which there can be no verifiable Sensory Substantiation or agreement. It represents qualities which must be taken on faith, and is introduced to the individual by the persuasion of the word, as opposed to independent and objective experience from either the Positive or Astral Dimensions. The abstract nature of Religious Materialism produces any number of spiritual/religious beliefs and organizations.
