I read the classics. Lots of Englishmen. Class was always a factor, maybe why they call them the classics and who knows the primary reason why the lower classes do not read them. They cannot identify with the lead characters, or don't like the characterizations of the lower classes. The classics are like inside a time-warp. They are a time-machine. "It was the best of times, it was the worst" of mines. It is a view from outside. It is a time-place one visits, like falling down 'a rabbit hole'. "Who are Youuuuuuu ?" Am I the girl chasing the stopwatch rabbit ? "I'm late, I'm late". We are both visitors here.

Some people do not read. There was a type that liked to read in my town. They were of a different strata, than maybe most folks. I had a problem really, no access to books without a lot of trouble; involving other people I would need, but didn't know how to get involved with. There was no library in my town. My grandparents had books but they were so old fashion. But I remember Death of a Salesman" though I didn't read it.

And I liked the outside. I liked doing stuff in the outdoors. I liked ambient euphoric nature. And then there was TV, another medium of story. It did most of the imaginative work. Different than radio.

Radio - I was inside, inside imagination. I was the character. TV was outside looking through the window. Inside I had a lot of decisions to make and responsibilities. I did it like - what would I do now ? - this is now, the here and now - and then the radio character did it, and did I agree ? This was I Can. I can do anything.
