They seemed to stay as teenagers emotionally all their lives, at least the average or less sophisticated. They would get upset at the silliest of things and I think did a lot of method acting. There was missing that emotional cynicism, that I as an American possessed. If you got upset it was serious.

So the letter says I met this woman in the south of France and I only stayed with them for a day and a half. So I have a conflict between my mind's memory and the facts. "Just the facts man". I prefer the memory as told. If everything is correct accept a single noun then what's the harm. Probably told this story before. TV show fifties :

Three injured prisoners of war in a prison hospital in Europe. One is by the window the others are not. The one by the window tells his two buddies what is going on in the neighborhood down below everyday, though every one can see it is a brick wall. He has the advantage of seeing sideways down-space between the buildings by his position at the window. The others cannot get out of bed. These others two conspire to steal his medicine so one of them can get the window perch to be decided by lot. The story teller has to be taken to emergency and the lot winner has a nurse move his bed. It is nothing but a brick wall in both directions. So they get themselves arranged as before, so that when the storyteller returns from special care, he begins his stories again none the wiser.
