The administrator dickered between the believer and agnostic, and the 'I am sure' guy made the final decision when it was important. So that was how to believe and not believe at the same time. So I had the believer, the disbeliever and the 'I am sure'. But then there must be a fourth the dickerer. Actually I became a core of five composite characters. The first was the magic man.

We would enjoy the Billboards down at Mission and Army Streets. There were two big signs there one on either side of Mission facing south and we could see them from the living room if we looked down there. It was not just me that noticed similarities to things we were engaged. Ford and I talked about it sometimes. The ads would be seemingly comments on what was happening in our lives. Highly coincidental. However most people in this situation would not want anything to do with this sort of thinking. There are probably hundreds of scenarios - just coincidence nothing to do with me.

I was down on Market Street one time walking north and and turning left into Fourth Street to a large coffee shop in the direction of Mission Street. I had coffee by the window and across the street was a big hotel and giant limousine in front with a chauffeur packing the trunk with the possessions of the owner who noticed me and seemed to take offence my being there. Mr. rich man and the hippie. Could I be sure ? Well it felt like it.
