I hadn't heard from the army. I had written them a letter. Didn't hear from the club in Switzerland either. So as is, I would plan on going home early in the next year. In this event I thought I would probably go to the '68 Olympics in Mexico City, and maybe South America. I was planning my next trip already.

I was thinking about a 4 year art school. The government would pay 100 dollars a month. I was thinking about a lot of things. I was thinking I should sell my scooter in London and begin hitching.

I was then in Scotland having passed the frontier at 1710 hours. I came up through Stockton and by Shotton to Sunderland and thru to South Shields. I then went west to Gateshead and Newcastle and north again to Morpeth. I then cut off the main road and headed up thru Wooler and Coldstream on the border. The best country has been since Morpeth.

England is like Belgium. Every bit of land has got a hedge on it or a fence, or a house or something growing on it. The country began then to become quite open. So on Friday I was about ten miles from Edinburgh and another beautiful day and I drank a huge cup of coffee. I thought I would try to find a cheap hotel to stay in Edinburgh, one with a hot bath. I had to also wash my clothes and find a Newsweek magazine.

So the day was Saturday and I was staying at a camp site. Had a hot shower and washed my clothes. I was straight. I would be heading north the next day. Did not know where I would be going. My plan was to come back thru Glasgow and then over to Ireland. It was another nice day.
