They taught nonsense in the schools. You could tell the intelligence of the other kids by the degree they believed the crap that was taught in history. I left me-out of it. I didn't have the memory for the dates. Date-stamp me. Think it was a spoilage-date concept.
I was not going to commit my memory to abstraction. I realized or I had an inkling of the consideration, probably sometime around my sophomore year of high school, the year I hated Geometry so, that I could not remember two-dimensional paper-abstraction, as lines with numbers. History - they wanted dates. Dates ? Dated history. I am sure that is what the maker's of history did - What's the date? Oh that's a date I should cross the Potomac. The date made me do it. Datemate. And there was the memorialization of murder a good deal. The problem for me was television history - "See It Now" in animation. There was a conflict for anyone paying attention. You could see the other side. Ah - they all look the same except the uniforms - oh wait, those Asians they look different. Who are they ? There was an enemy - there was a monster - a Whatnot.
I suppose if collated altogether, it was castles and churches with more castles in ruins, especially in Ireland. Castles and Churches against the Whatnot. Whatnot was bad-things, not-to-be-happened - in future. The wind was the future and intrepidly I forward ooomed - mind in sublime ecstasy, my body against the onslaught of happen-stance like push-polar magnet-being.
Then there's the big-game. The real-deal. Gamblers love these terms. All-or-nothing. I put it on "all-or-nothing" - money. I have heard people say it. But they generally were of a shady crowd.
