Today was again Sunday and Copenhagen was nice but I left at one PM. I took the ferry from Hellsinger to Halsingerborg. I travelled north right along the west coast of Sweden and yada yada yada, straight up to Oslo. The weather was getting quite cool. It had been very sunny in Sweden. My tentative plan was to stay in Oslo two days and head for Bergen. I did not know what route I would take. I planed to spend about a week in Bergen and head straight across Norway and Sweden to Stockholm. Then I thought I might head north around the water to Finland and down to Helsinki.
I further thought I would like to travel south from Finland thru Russia, Poland and East Germany. But this would be doubtful because I understood it to be very expensive. The expense of the ferry from Helsinki back to Stockholm would have a bearing on whether I go north around the sea to Finland. But then I thought I may not go to Finland at all.
The problem would have been primarily, that in eastern block countries, you are charged so much per day, as a minimum of what you must spend, whether you actually spend it in the field or not.
The driving in Sweden is on the left side of the road as in England. Had no trouble. I have needed six different kinds of money, no seven kinds, in the last couple of weeks. I arrived in Oslo on a Monday.
The camping place I was at overlooked the entire city. It was quite beautiful at night. Camping places in Scandinavia have free hot showers, and stoves for cooking, also free, and sinks with hot water for washing dishes.
