The concept of higher powers would of course assume a continuing existence after bodily death, of which I, by out of body experience, had become a believer. A person of real applied power has to make life and death decisions. Applied power seemed to be messy. There was rarely pin point accuracy. There seemed always what they call collateral damage. The thing was, it was a battle against idiots. They had no concepts of ethics, respect for life, responsibility to anything but myopia. They had the attention span of about three minutes. Some moron might push the atomic button. With the kind of power I thought I might possess, the span of time had to be expanded indefinitely.
One would not even care about their wars and violence, as limited by primitive technology, and with no capacity to do but limited damage to the general planetary ecology. But now they had the power to destroy the planet with a push of a button. They had dropped nukes on Japan. People wanted to drop them on North Vietnam. These were lower life forms. In this light higher power may and even must be used. So what you have is people so stupid, that how could they be tried in a court of law. Easy to prove they are guilty. But how would anyone ever prove that they would ever be capable of knowing they were so. "I may have been wrong in retrospect. But I was just trying to do what was right". These were the believers; crime by virtue of belief.
One of the punishments I devised was: that after their crime - to make them conscious, a part of the universal community, such that the comparison would make them wish for their own total annihilation.
