Crime and punishment a tedious affair. When a just God punishes people for the sin of non-belief of eternal hell, what can one expect of people who murder millions by the agent of belief. "All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me". Who said it Christ or the Devil ? the difference being, 'all these things', material or spiritual ? My belief made me do it.
I fancied myself a leader. If I had power should I be a leader ? These were radical times and I lived in a radical neighborhood. There was always the problem of the leader of the opposition as the target of the powers that be. While in the Haight I had read, maybe it was a book, about the Algerian revolution against the French in the fifties. The revolutionaries used a three member cell system. As I remember it, each member of a single cell, recruited one new member to comprise another cell, and where each member of each cell did not reveal to the others the name of their recruit. Thus information was passed down from the top from cell to cell, each member of each cell communicating with their one recruit.
The object of French intelligence was to reach to the top of the organization, and they had to get the names of a cell member's recruiter and recruits before they learned of the capture. For this, the most civilized of all European countries as they like to call themselves, the French stuck fire hoses up the butts of their captured, to get the information as fast and expediently as possible. Sort of puts one off the idea leadership and revolutionary doesn't it.
