She had fallen in love again with her old boyfriend. She got married to this guy who I never met, when I was maybe in my second year in SF. She sent me an invitation. Must say the movie 'The Graduate' was really popular at the time, and I had my thoughts of whether I should pursue her down there and crash the church wedding. But I thought that would be too crazy. Besides I had to take her word for it.

That Graduate thing was a fairy tale - right ? She wrote me some time later. She was happy living in Michigan. Her husband worked for Dow Chemical - the napalm makers. Yes a former radical living with the enemy. She was a housewife now, but she could paint to her heart's content. I sent her a drawing in return, instead of a letter, showing her a bit of how I had adopted the artist mentality. It was something that expressed my anger. But there you go. If that is what she really wanted, it was not my life style. So never have heard since. I just don't keep track of people who are no longer in the present. I don't live in the past, excepting these retrospectives and for analysis.

I left DC at Christmas time two weeks leave into New Years before I shipped out to Europe from Fort Dix, New Jersey. All in all it was a great time in Washington. When I got back from Europe passing thru New York, I did call down there but got no answer so I didn't stop in for a visit. I went home and onto the west coast.
