With the adoption of Excess and Profit and more proper, specific and complicated models of expectation, the greater is the need for a hierarchy of efficiency that can promote these objectives and goals. When models of expectation to which individuals are demanded to conform are states and conditions which are progressively developed from what is a state or entities original and natural and undeveloped condition, the term progressive authoritarianism can be used. Progressive authoritarianism is the creation of higher authority as ideals, creeds, convictions, paragons or Metaphysical Ideals and Extra Mundane Authorities. These are considered progressed, advanced, improved or reformed from what are natural and original states and conditions, such as the natural world or undeveloped and uncivilized conditions of humankind.

These models of expectation are considered as superior, elevated, advanced and sophisticated above less materially developed cultures or state of humankind, and should be created, promoted, constructed, preserved and adhered too. These models are instanced by institutions of religious salvation, higher moral authority such as reformist movements like anti-slavery, temperance or anti-abortion movements, enlightened educational reforms or political innovations. Progressive authoritarianism is distinct from the conservative in that the authoritarianism is usually to maintain the elite status of specific constituencies of the society as opposed to the whole.

Those individuals and groups who deem themselves as best conforming to models of expectation whether Conservative or Progressive, or feel it necessary to promote such models for the good of a particular group or segment of society, or for the greater whole, may use these paragons as justification for their decisions and actions, and act by authoritarian means for their promotion. Authoritarianism is when objectives act as authority for the individual or groups actions. These objectives of course are considered of greater consequence than those who may be impacted negatively by their imposition.
