Emotion:
A further consideration of the Ego and Identity is the differences in
emotional make-up.
Emotion is defined as the natural sensory response, of the bodies sensory system, as modified by what the individual considers as the definition of
Consequence, or what is important to the individual. Emotion is Association containing Consequence, attached to immediate sensory perception or thinking. The natural sensory response of the body is called Natural Affection, which is sensation, as registered by the body, which is not altered by association containing excessive Consequence. The constant flood of sensory input in every instant, like the ordinary sensations of smell, taste, sight and sound, if it does not carry any association of Consequence is Natural Affection. However if the simple swim in the lake becomes an emergency event Natural Affection becomes Emotion.
The primary Interpretive Context of the Ego as interpreter of the body
is Natural Affection, in that most sensory input is mundane and not
necessarily consequential. Emotional content as concerns the Ego derives primarily from the direct experience of, and what is of Consequence to the body. Thus there would exist a commonality of emotional content for all people, since the human body is more similar for everyone than different.
On the other hand emotional content comes already packaged with
adopted Identities, by virtue of the Consequence inherent in the
Identities definition. Different Identities will contain differing Emotional
content. With the creation of Identities, each Identity comes with its own set of emotional criterion, which means varying types of Consequence. Thus one will adopt the emotional content and values of an assumed Identity. As in the instance of the Identity needing to borrow the belief of Consequence from the Ego, and so-it is also with emotional content.
